Going home:
After your Operation or Procedure.

Allow yourself a minimum of 24 hours to recover after your admission. It is imperative you follow all post-operative surgical instructions provided by your surgeon.

At Home

As a result of receiving an anaesthetic you are unable to do the following for a minimum of 24 hours:

  • Driving a car
  • Signing important documents
  • Drinking alcohol and smoking
  • Operating machinery
  • Any strenuous activity
  • Looking after dependant children on your own

Please contact your specialist or an emergency department for any post-operative problems.

Post-Operative Phone Call

In most cases, you will be contacted by a member of the treating team in the week following your surgery to check in on you and discuss your post-operative care.
