About The Canossian Sisters
Established by The Canossian Daughters of Charity, Canossa Private Hospital opened in 1962, not long after the Canossian Sisters arrived in Australia.
Originally the Sisters were called to serve in education, but the need for health care was emerging and so with courage and resilience the Sisters began the mission of caring for the sick.
After nearly 60 years at the helm of the service, on 1 December 2020, the Sisters transferred the operation of Canossa Private Hospital to Ozcare.
Ozcare is honoured to be entrusted with the continued care of patients at Canossa Private Hospital and remains dedicated to upholding the esteemed reputation of the Canossian Sisters.
About Ozcare
Ozcare was established in 1996 as a special work of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland (the Society).
Ozcare’s caring workforce of nearly 3,800 staff and 160 volunteers service more than 15,000 clients to support them from 44 locations across Queensland with a range of aged care, retirement living, hospital, disability care, respite care, nursing, allied health and dementia advisory and support services.
